What is Lean Body Mass?
Definizione rapida
Total body weight minus all body fat. Includes muscle, bone, water, organs, and connective tissue.
Spiegazione completa
Lean Body Mass (LBM) is everything in your body that is not fat: muscle, bone, water, organs, skin, tendons. LBM is typically 60–90% of body weight, varying by sex, fitness level, and body composition. Athletes have higher LBM (more muscle). LBM is what burns calories at rest — more LBM means higher BMR and easier fat loss. Tracking LBM (vs. just weight) is critical for body recomposition: someone losing fat and gaining muscle may weigh the same but improve composition. LBM is estimated via body fat % measurements or directly measured via DEXA scans. Protein intake and resistance training are the main drivers of LBM gains.
