What is Perimeter?

Definición rápida

The total distance around the outside of a 2D shape. Measured in linear units (m, ft).

Explicación completa

Perimeter is the total length of the boundary of a 2D shape. Formulas: Rectangle P = 2(length + width); Triangle P = a + b + c (sum of sides); Circle (called circumference) P = 2πr. Perimeter is used for fencing, trim, baseboards, picture rails, and any task that follows the edge of a shape. To calculate material needed for the boundary (like fence boards), use the perimeter. To calculate material needed to fill the shape (like tile), use the area. The two are often used together in construction: perimeter for edge, area for fill.
